 2010 Spring Art Contest

The Yorkton Alliance of Asset Champions recently hosted a Spring Art Contest for youth in the community. Young people were asked to create a form of art that best described what one of the eight asset categories (Support, Empowerment, Boundaries and Expectations, Constructive Use of Time, Commitment to Learning, Positive Values, Social Competencies and Positive Identity) meant to them. Yorkton Alliance of Asset Champions Named Finalist for Saskatchewan Municipal Award

The City of Yorkton recently nominated the Yorkton Alliance of Asset Champions for a Saskatchewan Municipal Award in the Community Development Leadership category. Last week, the Yorkton Alliance of Asset Champions was named a finalist for the award. The selection panel members for the awards include Senator Pamela Wallin (Senate of Canada), Bob Linner (former city manager Regina/Prince Albert), Murray Mandryk (political columnist Regina Leader Post), Jim Angus (administrator RM of Harris No. 146) and Holly Heatherington (senior partner Executive Source). All submissions to the Saskatchewan Municipal Awards will be placed on the "best practices" web site- a growing online resource centre for municiplaities located at www.municipalcapacity.ca . Congratulations to all involved in making the city of Yorkton a place where all young people thrive!
